First recording of one of my songs to CD!

Yay!! After almost 3 years I've finally successfully recorded a song I wrote for a friend of mine to CD, a song I wrote for his 2nd birthday that he's probably going to find a bit babyish now that I've finally put it in a form he can listen to.

The process has involved my destroying the input side of my onboard sound & a sound card I purchased through eBay, learning the difference between line level & mic level inputs & picking up another sound card; buying Cubasis MicroAudio off eBay, getting it to work by installing it over the demo of Cubasis VST, then losing the CD & finally getting a recording in Audacity.

Also I've had one HD finally die completely, which caused the operating system on my new HD to stop working, reinstalled my operating system several times, completely reformatted my HD and reinstalled everything from scratch a couple of times, had the fan on my graphics card die & replaced it with one a friend gave to me, had the fan over the CPU start making heaps of noise & managed to partially fix it, had one of my IDE cables die & replaced it, and had various problems with viruses & my anti-virus program. I think Windows XP on a PC is a great combination when it works but they spend a lot of time not doing so.

Finally I can record all the songs I've written & put them onto CD, which is one of the reasons for having this computer.

Other news:

I'll be starting the 2nd & now final week of the Elijah House Basic Course in Prayer Counselling in less than a fortnight. I'll be doing the sound again & it has been really encouraging during the first week to find I was actually able to do it & knew what I was doing. Another aspect of my heading towards being able to run a home recording studio is now under my belt, not to mention being able to do the sound when required for bands in church etc.

I've gone and put something about 'how to get saved' on my web site & I've received the disk with all the stuff I need to get a friend's site up and running so there should be another web site created by me appearing on the web sometime soon. This friend was one I lost contact with a couple of years ago so here's another one for the continuing saga of catching up with old friends.

Apart from dealing with all the problems with my computer mentioned above I also had the fridge die on me just after I did a huge grocery shop with the help of a friend since I had his car to get it back home in. I've also been a bit run down & have been a bit overwhelmed by dealing with all this stuff but I'm still going. I did find a herb called 'horse tail' which helps with the CFS. Until I invested in a tea strainer I kept getting a mouth full of stuff that tasted like grass (of the lawn variety).

Hopefully the next few weeks will see things stop breaking down all the time (particularly the computer) & I'll be able to get a productive streak happening & get done a few of the things I've been meaning to do for ages. Apart from the recording I also finally got my new computer desk put together with a bit of help from Mark & finally have started clearing up upstairs & turning it into an office/recording studio.

Blessings,
Joe :-)
