What's the buzz, tell me what's a happening

Yes I am a fan of Jesus Christ Superstar the rock opera even though it was written from the point of view of Judas & I regard a lot of the words as a blind person's desperate groping for truth.

Well I've put in the first really solid work as administrator for Brackets and Jam & it was really satisfying. It feels really good to be the catalyst for getting together a whole bunch of people who really want to make creative stuff happen. Also I've finally started putting in a bit of work on some of the friend's web sites I said I'd help with about a year ago. I was inspired after getting around to adding a page about why Jesus believed he was God & the son of God to my own web site which I meant to do ages ago. One I've been working on isn't up yet, the B&J site is one, which isn't anything to write home about yet, as well as OpenStage Productions. Now that I'm the Brackets and Jam administrator & have easy access to heaps of content for that site I should be able to get it really spruced up.

I've been to the Art Gallery of NSW, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the State Library & the Museum of Sydney for the exhibitions they have on as part of the Festival of Sydney. At the State Library Eye 4 Photography exhibition they have a dinner party at a friend of mine's mum's place in the exhibition. I've also been to the Homebush Sports Centre for The Lazy Kings which I caught with Daniel, Sole & Ben (whose mum was in the photo exhibition). I've been best friends with Daniel since I was four & it was good to catch up.

The weekend was good. Sunday Kel & Sharon who are missionaries in Lithuania were there, as well as Paul & Sylvia who just got married in June but haven't been in Australia for years (in Paul's case) or at all (in Sylvia's), & we went to lunch at Chao Praya with Anna, Anna, & Sally. I then went to catch up with Jack to see Francis Bacon's film about William S. Burroughs but Jack got a writing brainstorm & even though I showed up at the theatre an hour before it started it was booked out. Later Kel, Sharon & I went for tea at Anna & Bernd's place. All in all a wonderful day of catching up with old friends.

Shameless plug: The Chao Praya is a Thai restaurant at 33 Perouse Rd, The Spot, Randwick, ph. 9399 5509, around the corner from Gracepoint Christian Church, which has been the mainstay of reasonably priced lunches (from $7.90) for Gracepoint people for many years. It is a great restaurant with a friendly staff who provided a lot of free meals when we used to have a van ministry delivering food to the homeless people of Sydney. I figure they have blessed us so I might as well put in a plug for them.

There's been a lot of that lately (catching up with old friends). It seems that season that was begun early last year is continuing. With Paul & Sylvia in town (& now Kel & Sharon although they were only here briefly) there's a lot of it happening & I manage to wheedle my way in to most of it.

The other neat thing that happened was a friend of mine gave me a Nokia 5510 which has an MP3 player & an FM radio, so I'm back on the airwaves after being mobile-less for a while & now I shall have music where-ever I go.

Blessings,
Joe :-)

Posting Policy

Just thought I'd mention that I've decided to use adult's first names in my posts & leave out all details of children except their existence (eg. "a song I wrote for a friend of mine"), & I've edited previous posts to remove personally identifying details particularly about children I know. Exceptions are for those people who want to be identified, eg. friend's who've produced an album they want to sell.
Blessings,
Joe :-)

Finally in paid work after 13 years!

G'day. Well I've taken over as the administrator of Brackets and Jam. It's the first regular paid work I've done since April 1992. Yay!! It's only part time, but at least it's a start.

I've had other indications I am still getting better from the CFS but it's still painfully slow. I was mucking around with a bit of computer programming in Nov. & Dec., which is the first time I've successfully gotten my head around it since 1986. In the end although I could get back into it there are too many other things I really want to do with my time & money to do so.

Christmas was great, I got to celebrate with Bill & Judy & their family and it was a mellow day with heaps of great food.

New Years Eve was also great, with dinner at Jaqi & Ev's along with Alain & Carol, Anna & Bernd, Leo, & Kim, along with 2 little people. We saw the fireworks from their back veranda & across the road at Heffron Park with an occasional glimpse at the TV to see them close up & to see the Harbour Bridge. Although we were a long way off & they were small it was possible to see several places fireworks at once. In one spot you could see 4 sites but that wasn't where I was standing.

Check out the Sydney Festival site for what's happening around Sydney as part of the Sydney Festival. I'm planning on being at Festival events nearly every day in January. Between them and the free outdoor movies at Olympic Park, I'll actually be at more than one event per day (assuming I actually make it to everything I want to see).

January will be a month of seeing movies as well. I really want to see Bridgette Jone's II on the 11th in the Botanic Gardens outdoors on the big screen (preferably with a few friends), as well as everything playing outdoors on the big screen at Olympic Park from the 16th to the 22nd. However the 16th is also the night of a film at the Opera House about Francis Bacon & William S Burroughs I would like to see, I might go and see The Sapphires with mum on the 19th at the Belvoir St Theatre, I might check out the opera of the Eternity Man with mum on the 20th, & there is the Bacardi Festival at Darling Harbour & several of my friends are bound to want to go to that. Also I won 2 season passes to A Very Long Engagement.

Blessings,
Joe :-)
